University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) signed the MoU with Collège de France – the oldest and most prestigious research organisation of the French Republic.
Collège de France, founded in 1530, is considered as the oldest and most prestigious research organization in France. Collège de France has brought together prominent French and foreign scientists in a wide range of fields including mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, history, archeology, languages, Oriental studies, etc. So far, professors from Collège de France have won 21 Nobel prizes and 8 Fields medals.
Collège de France is a research organisation, but also offers free high-level courses in science, literature and the arts. The organization has high-quality research laboratories and owns one of the best research libraries in Europe, preserving many valuable documents on chemistry, physics, history and humanities.
Following the MoU signed, Collège de France will support USTH in fostering and developing research and training activities. In particular, the organization will send outstanding professors from many fields to USTH to give lectures and host scientific seminars held at the university. The agreement opens up a golden opportunity for USTH lecturers. researchers and students to meet and exchange academic knowledge with the world’s respected scientists.
On October 10th, 2018, USTH will be honored to welcome Prof. Anne Cheng, the first professor appointed by Collège de France to officialize the partnership and organize the first public seminar at the university. On this occasion, the French Embassy in Hanoi will also invite Prof. Anne Cheng to attend a seminar on social sciences organized by the French Embassy at the French Cultural Center in Hanoi.
Professor Anne Cheng was born in 1955 and grew up in France. For nearly 30 years, she has devoted herself for training and studying of Chinese spiritual history, especially Confucianism. She worked at the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), at the National Institute of Languages and Civilization of the East (INALCO) and now Collège de France.
Professor Anne Cheng is also the translator, author and editor of many distinguished Chinese books and joint research projects over the world. Among the researchers of Oriental culture, she is described as “an important representative of French synology.”
