According to the report of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Vietnam is forecast to be in the Top 5 growing aviation markets in the world from 2015 to 2035. The strong growth reflects the increasing demand for air transport in Vietnam, bringing many attractive job opportunities in the aviation sector. However, human resources in this industry have not been met according to the growth demand, creating a big formula for ensuring service quality and sustainable development.
In particular, after the recovery period from the COVID-19 pandemic, airlines in Vietnam are developing many plans to expand the scale of their aircraft fleet by building up modern aircraft maintenance hangar systems. A typical example is at Long Thanh airport, each hangar of Vietnam Airlines has an area of about 1 hectare, requiring the participation of about 300 maintenance and repair staff. This shows the great demand for specialized human resources in aircraft maintenance, repair, and related activities, opening up wide career opportunities for many workers.
To adapt to the demand for technical and high-quality human resources, USTH has been developing a Bachelor program of aeronautical maintenance and operation engineering based on the strong support of Airbus and its partners Vietnam Airlines, Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (VAECO), French National Civil Aviation College (ENAC) and Bricks by Aerospace Valley.
1. TEACHING PROGRAMS
The curriculum is 100% taught in English, including basic theoretical and practical research contents, focusing on the following areas: aircraft and system maintenance, inspection & technical support, aircraft quality & condition, and aviation operations. The program is systematically developed, with the participation of leading professors at home and abroad, and the advice of leading companies/corporations in the field of Aviation in Vietnam and France.
At the Department of Aeronautics of USTH, the team of lecturers is dedicated to their profession, and well-trained; advanced teaching methods are used, emphasizing the central role of learners. Lecturers regularly raise practical and hypothetical problems for learners to discuss and solve through presentations of major assignments, topics assigned during the course, and hours of participating in activities in the practice room.
Key Strength of the USTH Training Program is the participation of experts from aviation transport enterprises such as Vietnam Airlines, VAECO, Bamboo Airways, Vietjet Air, HaiAu Aviation, AESC… in teaching, evaluating learning outcomes, and internships.
At USTH, students can choose a training major that suits their career development orientation. Accordingly, there are currently 03 training majors: Operation Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, and Maintenance Engineering with basic B1/B2 certificate.
