Energy and environmental issues are always two hot topics of society, requiring attention and action from the entire community. Recognizing the importance of these issues, the Sustainable Energy and Environmental Development (SEED) research group was established at USTH in December 2022, focusing on sustainable energy and environmental solutions.
List of Members
SEED consists of 09 members from various research fields, including 01 group leader and 05 core members.

Research Objectives
SEED focuses on valorizing available biomass sources (agricultural residues, urban waste, rural waste…) for purposes:
- Research and synthesize clean energy using thermal conversion technologies.
- Research and synthesize adsorbent materials (hydroxyapatite, biochar, activated carbon, hybrid materials…) for environmental treatment.
Experience and Achievements
In 2023, the SEED members achieved many notable accomplishments, including publishing over 20 research papers in prestigious scientific journals.
Collaboration:
The main research partners of the SEED are:
- Hanoi University of Mining and Geology
- Tropical Engineering Institute (ITT)
- Military Technical Academy
- CIRAD (Centre for International Cooperation in Agricultural Research for Development)
- Kyushu Institute of Technology
- ChemSIN
- TISTR (Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research)
Research Collaboration Prospects:
- Material and energy sample analysis
- Collaborative projects on thermochemical conversion processes and material synthesis
- Organizing Environmental Conferences/Workshops
