The Final Round of the USTH Student Scientific Research Competition 2026 took place on 31 July 2026, wrapping up four months of intensive research and project development. Organised by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), the annual event highlights the research capabilities, creativity and practical problem-solving skills of students across the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH).

From ideas to real-world scientific solutions
Every research project presented at the final round reflected months of dedication, critical thinking, and scientific exploration. Behind each study were extensive literature reviews, laboratory experiments, methodological refinements and continuous efforts to address meaningful research questions. The competition provided students with a valuable platform to present their work, exchange ideas with the Committee and receive professional recognition for their achievements.

Launched in April 2026, the USTH Student Scientific Research Competition 2026 was organised by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) from USTH to foster an academic environment that encourages creativity, independent research and the application of scientific knowledge to real-world challenges.

Outstanding research projects showcased at the Final Round
The Final Round brought together 27 finalist teams, selected from a highly competitive preliminary round. This year’s competition witnessed significant growth in both the number and quality of submissions. Notably, many second-year students participated with well-developed research projects demonstrating strong scientific thinking, originality and impressive technical competence.

The Scientific Committee commended the practical relevance and application potential of this year’s projects, which covered a wide range of strategic research areas, including Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Biomedical Biotechnology, Aerospace Engineering, and Environmental Science. Beyond their scientific quality, the projects reflected students’ perseverance, curiosity and commitment to research – qualities that contributed to the success of the 2026 competition.

Award Winners
Following a comprehensive evaluation process, the Scientific Committee selected 15 outstanding projects for awards across three disciplinary categories:
- Category 1: Aerospace, Mechatronics, Energy, Environment, Materials, and Intelligent Systems
- Category 2: Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, and Applied Informatics
- Category 3: Life Sciences, Medicine–Pharmacy, Biomedical Technology, and IT Applications in Biomedicine

According to the Scientific Committee, this year’s projects demonstrated remarkable progress in research quality, scientific reasoning and the ability to address real-world challenges. Many teams impressed the panel with their thorough preparation, proactive research approach, effective teamwork, and confident presentations during the final evaluation.
Building a stronger foundation for young researchers
The successful conclusion of the USTH Student Scientific Research Competition 2026 marks not only the end of this year’s competition but also the beginning of new opportunities for promising research projects. Beyond being an academic competition, the event provides students with valuable experience in scientific inquiry, critical thinking, teamwork and research communication.
Through the process of developing and defending their research projects, participants strengthened both their academic and professional competencies while laying the foundation for future research initiatives and innovation activities.
