Opening ceremony of the Aeronautical Laboratory

On February 26, 2019, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH, Vietnam-France University) solemnly held the Opening Ceremony of Aeronautical Laboratory, with the participation of many partners, lecturers and students of the Aeronautical program.
 

Attending the ceremony were Prof. Phan Ngoc Minh, Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology - USTH’s governing body; Mr. Eric Molay, Attaché for Science and University Cooperation of the French Embassy in Hanoi; Mr. Etienne Fleury, International Project Manager, French Institute of Aeronautics and Space (IAS); Mr. Tran Chi Dung, Deputy Director of HR Department, Vietnam Airlines; Mr. Tran Minh Nghia, Deputy Director of VAECO Training Center; Mr. Nguyen Ba Viet, Head of Department, VAECO Training Centre; with the participation of USTH staff, lecturers and students of the Aeronautical Engineering program.

The opening ceremony was attended by USTH partners and lecturers and students of Aeronautical Engineering 

 

During the opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh asserted that the establishment of the Aeronautical Laboratory is the result of close and strong cooperations between USTH and different Vietnamese and French partners in the field of aviation. The laboratory was established with the total investment up to 700,000 USD (equivalent to 16 billion VND) from USTH, ensuring a modern and practical environment for students of aeronautical training program.

The Opening Ceremony marked the new development of 2 aviation training programs at USTH: the Bachelor program of Aeronautical Engineering and the Master program of International Air Transport Operations Management. These two training programs received 2.5 million USD financial support from Airbus, as well as strong support from the 2 leading aviation companies in Vietnam: Vietnam Airlines and Vietnam Airlines Engineering Company (VAECO); 2 leading aeronautical training institutions in Europe: French Civil Aviation University (ENAC), Institut Aeronautique et Spatial (IAS), and all French universities and research institutes of USTH Consortium.

Mr. Francois de Bortoli, representative from Airbus also sent congratulations to USTH and the partners on the occasion of this ceremony. He expressed his deep belief in the success of new aeronautical training programs at USTH, and his desire to make a long-term commitment with USTH for the sake of a sustainable aeronautical ecosystem in Vietnam.

Also at the event, guests and USTH students had the opportunity to visit the lab. With state-of-the-art equipment and international-standardised facilities, the Aeronautical Lab will certainly create a favourable environment for practice for USTH students, and become a focal point among the international laboratories at USTH.
