Opening Ceremony of the academic year 2017 – 2018

On 26th September, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi- USTH held the Opening Ceremony for the new academic year 2017-2018 with the attendance of many distinguished guests, lecturers, staff and new students.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Bertrand Lortholary - Ambassador of France in Vietnam; Prof. Chau Van Minh - Chairman of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology - VAST cum. Chairman of the University Council; many distinguished guests including USTH partnered universities, high schools, organizations and companies.

In the academic year 2017-2018, USTH welcomes more than 250 new entrants in both Bachelor and Master training programs.  The number of enrolled students increased by 20%, compared with the previous year. Mr. Patrick Boiron, Rector said: “After 7 years of operation, the intergovernmental missions that Vietnam and France have assigned to the university are going into the framework. USTH has gradually completed the development of the Bachelor, Master and PhD training programs following the Bologna process; built and put in use 6 international standard labs; employed high qualified lecturers and researchers with PhD degrees from French universities in teaching and research. All of these achievements have established the initial successes of solid foundation for training elite generations.”

Prof. Chau Van Minh, Chairman of VAST said: "In the past seven years, USTH and VAST have consistently guaranteed the training quality, from the facilities to human resources. VAST is willing to share with USTH from good facilities such as study space, classrooms, laboratories to huge information resource as well as human resources. High-quality labour, including lecturers and researchers from VAST have been directly involved in many development activities of the university. On the French side, USTH also receives valuable support from the French Government, French Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Development, Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research the French Consulate, the French Embassy, ​​the Alliance of Universities and the French Research Organization (CONSORTIUM) and the French Professors who are directly leading the management, teaching and research at USTH.

The Opening Ceremony is also a chance for USTH to commend, reward and motivate individual lecturers and students who have had outstanding academic achievements as well as positive contributions to the university's activities in the academic year 2016 - 2017.

Dr. Le Thi Van Anh - Lecturer of Pharmacological, Medical and Agronomical Biotechnology (PMAB) has been awarded "Best Innovative Lecture" for her effective improvement in teaching activities.
