University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) recently underwent an evaluation process conducted by the French High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (HCERES) from May 3 to May 5, 2023.
After reviewing the USTH’s self-evaluation report, HCERES assembled a team of 7 highly experienced specialists in the area of higher education training, research, and management to conduct an official evaluation at the university.
USTH has set our sights on becoming one of the most esteemed research universities in the fields of science and technology in the region by the year 2030. As part of this mission, USTH is consistently enhancing the quality of our training and research. The external evaluation by HCERES presents an excellent chance for USTH to measure and compare our organizational and operational performance against rigorous European standards.
HCERES is an independent organization that conducts evaluations of universities, research organizations, and training programs. It is an official member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance (ESG) in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
The HCERES delegation worked with the Rector Board.
In France, regular evaluations by HCERES are mandatory for training and research institutions. HCERES is also often called upon to assess the quality of foreign training and research institutions, French training and research institutions abroad, and international cooperation institutions of France.
In 2017, the bachelor’s programs of USTH were accredited by HCERES. It has become a guarantee of our training quality in the international academic community, thereby opening up more career opportunities for students on an international scale after graduation. At the same time, the evaluation of HCERES has helped USTH continuously improve and enhance the quality of our training programs.
In 2023, USTH decided to work with HCERES to carry out a thorough evaluation of all aspects of the university including management, research, and training areas. An exhaustive review of the university activities based on European standards holds significant importance for USTH during this current period of rapid development in education and research.
During their three-day working visit to USTH from May 3 to May 5, 2023, the delegation of HCERES experts held independent interviews with various groups including the University Council, the University Senate, the Science and Education Council, the Rector Board, representatives of academic and administrative departments, lecturers, researchers, students, alumni, domestic and international partners, and employers to assess the effectiveness of the university’s management, the quality of training and research activities, and the contribution and impact of USTH on the community as well as the development prospects of students and alumni. Additionally, the delegation visited the facilities used for training and research activities.
It is expected that HCERES will release its external evaluation report on USTH in July 2023.
