On July 7, 2026, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) and Hanoi Nephrology Hospital held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking an important step in strengthening the connection between education, research and clinical practice in the field of health sciences.

Attending the ceremony, from Hanoi Nephrology Hospital, were MSc., MD, Specialist Level II Phan Tung Linh – Hospital Director; MSc. Tran Thi My Hanh – Head of the Administration and Personnel Department; PharmD, Specialist Level II Do Thi Hoa – Head of the Pharmacy Department; PhD Nguy Thi Diep – Head of the Laboratory Department; MSc. Tran Ngoc Quynh – Head of the Medical Equipment and Supplies Department; together with representatives from the hospital’s specialized departments and units.
From USTH, participants included Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest – Principal Rector; Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Hai Dang – Vice-Rector, Director of the Department of Life Sciences; Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Quang Huy – Deputy Director of the Department of Life Sciences; Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thi Kieu Oanh – Deputy Director of the Department of Life Sciences; Prof. Patrice Estellé – Director of the Department of Science, Technology Management and International Affairs; Assoc. Prof. Pham The Hai – in charge of the Department of Medicine and Pharmacy; together with staff members and lecturers from the Department of Life Sciences.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest emphasized that the cooperation with Hanoi Nephrology Hospital holds particular significance in enhancing the quality of USTH’s training in health sciences. He highlighted the importance of strengthening the link between academic education and clinical environments, thereby enabling students to develop both solid professional knowledge and practical competencies.
Following this, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Hai Dang underlined USTH’s strategic orientation in expanding its training portfolio in the health sciences. In this direction, the partnership with hospitals is considered a key condition for building an education model closely connected with real-world practice. He also noted that the collaboration with Hanoi Nephrology Hospital will create a foundation for promoting research activities, scientific publications, and gradually contributing to the development of high-quality human resources for the healthcare sector.
From a practical perspective, MSc., MD, Specialist Level II Phan Tung Linh stressed that in the context of modern medicine, hospitals no longer serve only as places for medical examination and treatment, but also play an important role as centers for research, training and innovation. Therefore, close cooperation with educational institutions is essential to transform knowledge into practical value. The representative of Hanoi Nephrology Hospital also shared that, as a leading specialized hospital in Hanoi in the field of nephrology and dialysis, the hospital has consistently oriented its professional development toward scientific research, technology application and the cultivation of high-quality human resources, especially as the demand for personnel continues to grow alongside the hospital’s expansion.

Hanoi Nephrology Hospital is a specialized hospital in nephrology, extracorporeal dialysis, urology and andrology. Established in 2009 from its predecessor, the Hanoi Center for Nephrology and Extracorporeal Dialysis, the hospital is among the first specialized institutions in Vietnam in the field of nephrology and dialysis. It is currently oriented toward becoming a reputable nephrology center at both regional and national levels, with functions in medical examination and treatment, training, lower-level professional guidance, scientific research and professional cooperation in nephrology and urology. The hospital currently has more than 100 staff members, serves over 30,000 patient visits annually and aims to expand its capacity to more than 250 hospital beds.
