With an aim of improving ability and effectiveness of data analysis in research for lectures and researchers of University of Science and Technology of Hanoi – USTH (also called Vietnam France University), the Division of Research, Innovation and Technology Transfer and the Department of Pharmacological, Medical and Agronomical Biotechnology co-organised a training course on “Introduction to R and Date Visualisation” from January 26-28, 2018.
As a useful tool for research, R provides a wide variety of statistical (linear and nonlinear modelling, classical statistical tests, time-series analysis, classification, clustering, etc and graphical techniques, and is highly extensible. One of R’s strengths is the ease with which well-designed publication-quality plots can be produced, including mathematical symbols and formulae where needed. During the three-day course, with the guidance of experienced specialists in the field of surveys and analysis from Real Time Analytics firm, namely Chu Van An and Nguyen Chi Dung, 23 lecturers and researchers were equipped with foundation of R and data collecting and preparing methods through R for accurate analysis. In addition, practice lessons allowed them to gain hands-on experience with the most important data types and structures in R as well as methods to produce meaningful and beautiful data visualisation with R.
The training course provided participants with basic knowledge and skills of one of the most useful tool for data analysis and statistics, thus producing high-quality research work.
