On 1 August 2026, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) will hold the Launching Ceremony of the USTH Department of Medicine and Pharmacy under the theme “The White Coat – Aspiration for Excellence in Pharmacy”, marking an important milestone in the University’s development strategy and opening a new chapter in the education and training of high-quality pharmacists in accordance with international standards.
The white coat has long been regarded as a symbol of knowledge, responsibility and dedication to serving society. Behind this emblem lies years of rigorous academic study, professional training and the cultivation of ethical values, preparing future pharmacists to contribute to protecting, caring for and improving public health. Every pharmacist begins the journey in this way.
The Launching Ceremony of the USTH Department of Medicine and Pharmacy not only marks the creation of a new academic unit but also reflects USTH’s strong commitment to advancing health sciences through research, innovation and international collaboration. Building on the University’s strengths as an institution established under the strategic partnership between the Governments of Vietnam and France, the Department will foster a modern academic environment where fundamental sciences, applied sciences and professional practice are closely integrated.
Supported by an extensive network of partner universities, research institutes, hospitals and professional training facilities in both Vietnam and France, the Department aims to develop internationally benchmarked academic programmes that provide students with access to advanced knowledge, state-of-the-art research environments and diverse opportunities for learning, practical training and academic exchange at home and abroad. This foundation will enable students to strengthen their professional expertise, research capabilities and practical competencies, equipping them to meet the increasingly demanding requirements of the pharmaceutical sector in an era of global integration.
The Launching Ceremony will officially introduce the Department’s vision, mission and strategic development orientation, while reaffirming USTH’s commitment to educating future pharmacists with strong professional competence, exemplary ethical standards and a steadfast aspiration to contribute to the advancement of Vietnam’s healthcare system.
A highlight of the ceremony will be the White Coat Ceremony for students from the PHA1, PHA2 and PHA3 cohorts. More than a symbolic tradition, this ceremony marks the moment when students officially don the white coat, representing knowledge, responsibility and commitment to serving the community. Accompanied by the professional oath and students’ pledge, the ceremony signifies the beginning of their academic and professional journey towards becoming internationally minded pharmacists dedicated to serving society.
The programme will also feature the Round Table: “USTH PHARMACY IN A NEW ERA: Expectations – Opportunities – Responsibilities”, providing a platform for dialogue among the University’s leadership, the Department and students on educational orientation, future opportunities and the responsibilities of pharmacy students amid the rapid transformation of the pharmaceutical profession. The event will further witness the official launch of the initiative “The White Coat – Aspiration for Excellence in Pharmacy”, encouraging a culture of learning, research, innovation and dedication among students of the Department of Medicine and Pharmacy.
