In recent years, air pollution in Hanoi has become a serious environmental problem affecting the health and social life of Vietnamese people. This serious problem has gained a great attention from the central to local authorities as well as the public. In June 2016, the Vietnamese government issued the “Action Plan for Air Quality Management to 2020, Vision 2025”, with the aim to manage pollution sources and monitor air quality. . Hanoi has taken the first steps in implementing the plan, such as periodic dust treatment and the establishment of two air monitoring stations in January 2017.
The questions are:
1. The current air pollution situation in Hanoi, what causes these serious problems?
2. What are the solutions to improve the quality of air source?
3. What is the contribution of science and technology from the scientists in Hanoi to the improvement of air quality?
In terms of science and technology, the involvement of scientists in the research and resolution of issues related to air quality has become urgent. The talk on “Air Quality in Hanoi – Current Situations and Solutions for Science and Technology 2017” organized by USTH to provide information on the state of the air in Hanoi in 2016, and to propose solutions to deal with the severe air pollution today.
Assoc Prof. Nghiem Trung Dung, Director of Institute of Environmental Technology, Hanoi University of Technology; Ms. Nguyen Thi Khanh, Director of GreenID Vietnam; Mr. Nguyen Trinh Hoang Anh, lecturer of Energy Department, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, will present the assessment of air quality status in Hanoi and the state management of air quality improvement.
The speakers will also present the suggestions for scientific and technical options that can be used to improve air quality and quality of life in Hanoi.
The talk show is open to the public.
