On October 18, 2022, the signing ceremony of the sponsorship agreement between the French Embassy and the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) took place in the jubilant atmosphere of the Opening Ceremony of the new academic year 2022-2023.
Participating in the ceremony, on the side of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), there were Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh – President of VAST, Prof. Chu Hoang Ha, Vice President of VAST, President of the University Council; from the French Embassy, there were Mr. Nicolas Warnery – French Ambassador to Vietnam, Ms. Sophie Maysonnave, Counselor for Cooperation and Cultural Activities; on USTH’s side, there were Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest – Principal Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh – Rector.
According to the signed agreement, the French Embassy will sponsor a total value of 40,000 euros for the exchange programs to France of USTH lecturers, researchers, PhD students, and administrative staff, which are under 6 months. The agreement affirms the commitment of the French Government in supporting USTH to improve the quality of lecturers and staff as well as create favorable conditions for USTH students to access academic exchange opportunities at universities and research institutions in France.
USTH was established within the framework of the Intergovernmental Agreement between Vietnam and France in 2009. It has become a symbol of the tight cooperation between the two countries in the field of science and technology. For the last 13 years of development, USTH has received strong support from the French Government, the French Embassy in Vietnam and the Consortium of more than 30 French universities and research institutions (USTH Consortium) in training and research so that the University can sustainably develop towards the goal of becoming an excellent university in Vietnam and in the region.
