On November 23rd, 2023, a cooperation agreement between University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) and Supméca Institute of Mechanics of Paris (ISAE-Supméca) was officially signed. The signing ceremony was held online.
Participating in the ceremony, on the side of USTH was Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest – Principal Rector, Dr. Hoang Trung Kien – Director of Department of Applied Engineering and Technology, Ms. Do Thi Thuy Trang – Deputy Head of Department of International Cooperation; on the side of ISAE-Supméca was Prof. Philippe Girard – General Director, Prof. Nicolas Peyret – Dean, Ms. Ioana Herman – Director of International Relations.
After introducing and welcoming the delegates attending the ceremony, the representatives of USTH and ISAE-Supméca made remarks on the cooperation between two parties.
Supméca Institute of Mechanics of Paris (ISAE-Supméca) is a public engineering school in Saint-Ouen in the Seine-Saint-Denis department. Since it was founded in 1948, the school has had a strong scientific research vocation and a mission to train engineers for industry. The school’s areas of excellence include mechanics, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, and digital technologies for complex product development.. The school is an active member of the Polyméca network and is part of the ENSI (Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Ingenieur) school group and the ISAE group. According to his 2016 ranking in the French magazine L’Usine nouvelle, Supméca ranks among the best 10 engineering schools in the fields of mechanics, aeronautics, automobiles, transportation, and materials.
In September 2023, representatives of ISAE-Supméca visited Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and had a meeting with representatives of VAST and USTH on the cooperation plan. The two sides would gradually form collaborative research work and research groups, exchange students as well as research activities. Through the meeting, both sides understand the strengths of each institution and reaffirm the plan of an official partnership agreement between the two institutions – the Memorandum of Understanding.
Making an opening remark, Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest – Principal Rector of USTH expressed his delight at the new step in the long-term relationship between USTH and ISAE-Supméca. Professor showed his belief in the success of the cooperation plan in the future, including collaboration in a broad range of projects between lecturers and researchers from two parties as well as students and staff exchange. In addition, this cooperation will be an important stepping stone for USTH to re-launch its Master program in Applied Engineering and Energy.
On behalf of ISAE-Supméca, Prof. Philippe Girard – General Director, affirmed that ISAE-Supméca is excited about exchange activities with USTH in the upcoming time since two parties share the same strengths in training and research in the field of mechanical engineering, mechatronics technology and materials science. Professor expected that by cooperation, the academic programs and student/staff mobilities of both universities will be materially enriched.
At the end of the ceremony, Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest and Prof. Philippe Girard signed the cooperation agreement between USTH and ISAE-Supméca, opening up academic as well as cultural exchange opportunities for students, lecturers, and researchers of the two universities in the near future.
