On January 6, 2024, a signing ceremony for cooperation agreement between the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) and Chang Gung University (Taiwan, China) took place at USTH, opening up prospects for collaboration in education and research between the two universities.
Representing USTH were Professor Jean-Marc Lavest, Principal Rector, Assoc.Prof. Nguyen Hai Dang, Vice Rector, Dr. Nguyen Quang Huy, Deputy Director of Department of Life Sciences, Ms. Do Thi Thuy Trang, Deputy Director of International Cooperation Department. Representing Chang Gung University were Professor Jim-Tong HORNG, Associate Dean for International Affairs of the College of Medicine, Professor Ching-Yi WU, Associate Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Jia-You FANG, Graduate Institute of Natural Products, Professor Tsung-Hsun HSIEH, Director of the Center for Innovation and Incubation, Professor Ing-Tsung HSIAO, Vice Head of Department of Medical Imaging and Radiological Sciences.
Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Jean-Marc Lavest, Principal Rector, expressed his delight at this new milestone in the cooperative relationship between USTH and Chang Gung University. He also shared insights about the training model, vision, mission, and core values of USTH, while expressing hope for this new chapter in the cooperation between USTH and Chang Gung University. Professor Jean-Marc Lavest believed that the signed agreement would help create numerous opportunities in training and research.
Prof. Jim-Tong HORNG, representative of Chang Gung University, also provided an overview of the organizational structure, training programs, and modern facilities that support the university’s education and research. He emphasized the position of Chang Gung University, which ranks among the top 5 universities in Taiwan for training in Medicine, Engineering, and Management, as well as its extensive collaborative relationships with renowned universities in the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and France. Notably, Chang Gung University is also ranked among the top 600 universities in the world according to the ARWU 2008 rankings.
After the discussion, Professor Jean-Marc Lavest and Professor Jim-Tong Horng officially signed the cooperation agreement, which includes several important components aimed at promoting academic activities, joint research, and international exchange programs, including:
- Coordinating the development of academic activities and joint research;
- Creating opportunities for student and researcher exchanges lasting from 6 months to 1 year;
- Supporting and developing internationalized education and research projects.
The signing ceremony between USTH and Chang Gung University was successful and promising, opening up many opportunities for academic exchange and research for the researchers and students of both universities in the future.
