USTH would like to invite you to the seminar in Chinese studies “What is Chinese universality” with the speaker Prof. Anne Cheng from the Collège de France. The Collège de France, founded in 1530, is a higher education and research establishment in France. It is located in Paris, in the 5th arrondissement, or Latin Quarter, across the street from the historical campus of La Sorbonne. The Collège is considered to be France’s most prestigious research establishment.
Starting from 2018, The Collège de France installs a professor chair at USTH with perspectives to strengthen the collaboration between USTH and College in both research and training. Within the framework of the agreement signed, college is going to send their outstanding professors to talk in Series of USTH Distinguished seminars, to lead the scientific colloquium and/ or to chair the joint scientific workshops. Prof. Anne Cheng, who has been described as an “important representative of French sinology”, will be the first College professor visiting USTH this fall semester.
Prof Anne Cheng was born in 1955 and has been involved in teaching and research on the intellectual history of China and Confucianism in particular, initially at the CNRS (French National Center for Scientific Research), then at INALCO (National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilizations), before her appointment to the Institut universitaire de France and her recent election to the Collège de France.
