On November 10th, 2022, University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) had a meeting with University of Limoges (UNILIM) on the cooperation plan for the upcoming time.
Participating in the meeting, on the side of USTH, was Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest, Principal Rector, Assoc. Prof. Tran Dinh Phong, Vice-Rector, Mr. Luc Le Calvez, Director of Research, Innovation and Technology Transfer, Ms. Barbara Gandriaux, Director of Department of Academic Affairs, Dr. Tran Giang Son, Co-Director of Department of Information and Communication Technology, and Ms. Do Thi Thuy Trang, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department. On the side of UNILIM, was Prof. Isabelle Klock-Fontanille, President, and Prof. Laurent Bourdier, Vice-President for International Affairs.
After introducing and welcoming the representatives attending the meeting, the leaders of the two universities made discussions in the implementation and development of the double bachelor’s degree in Information and Communication Technology was officially signed by both sides on March 30, 2022.
As part of the plan to develop the quality of training in Information and Communication Technology, USTH has cooperated with top universities in France to deploy a bachelor’s degree program in the ICT field, including University of Limoges – one of the best multidisciplinary universities and educational environments in France.
According to this cooperation agreement, students will study for 2 years at USTH and 1 year at UNILIM. Especially, during studying at USTH, students will have the opportunity to hone their knowledge under the guidance of experienced lecturers from UNILIM. After graduation, students will receive two degrees, one from USTH and one from UNILIM.
Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest expressed his delight and warmly welcomed representatives of UNILIM to visit USTH, after two years of online meeting as of Covid-19 pandemic. This is a great occasion for them to understand more about USTH’s training programs, studying and research environment, and facilities as well as to develop a long-term relationship between two universities.
On behalf of UNILIM, Prof. Isabelle Klock-Fontanille also expressed her honor and thanks for the invitation to visit USTH. The professor hopes that through this visit, the relationship between the two universities will be further consolidated and promoted, continuing to cooperate more comprehensively and professionally in more fields. Especially, the professor emphasized the importance of USTH in the Francophone community, contributing to the development of the French language in the world.
During the meeting, the two universities agreed to cooperate in exchange of lecturers, staff, students, joint research projects as well as doctoral training. The exchange opens up the opportunities for academic exchange, new teaching methods approach and new environment experiences. In addition, USTH wishes to send staff Foreign Languages Centre to France to improve knowledge and skills in French language teaching. In particular, USTH suggested that the two sides can exchange students right from this academic year, instead of starting from 2024 as the signed MoU.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Jean-Marc Lavest and Prof. Isabelle Klock-Fontanille reaffirms the co-degree cooperation agreement between UNILIM and USTH, and wishes to continue to expand cooperation, providing opportunities for study, research and academic exchange in France for staff, lecturers and students who are passionate about science and technology as well as desire to experience and develop themselves in an international environment. Two universities hope to cooperate in other fields such as environment, materials science and energy, in addition to Information and Communication Technology.
