On December 16th, USTH organized the Graduation Ceremony for Doctoral, Master, and Bachelor Graduates in 2023.
Participating in the ceremony were Prof. Jean-Paul Deroin – Newly appointed President of USTH Consortium; Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest – Principal Rector, Prof. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh – Rector, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Hai Dang – Vice Rector, Assoc. Prof. Tran Dinh Phong – Vice Rector, directors of departments, lecturers, researchers of USTH together with new Doctoral, Master, and Bachelor graduates in 2023, their friends, and families.
In his opening speech, Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest extended his congratulations to the new graduates for having completed their studies. He emphasized the diploma is a testament to their persistent efforts and hard work especially when facing many challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest expressed his belief that these experiences will become a valuable asset for them to confidently step into the job market.
According to Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest, Vietnam is experiencing major changes, including the shift towards Industry 4.0, its evolution from a low-income to a middle-income nation, and changes in climate and energy impacting various sectors. High-quality human resources, who hold bachelor’s, master’s, and especially doctoral degrees in science and technology fields, play a crucial role and contribute positively to these changes. Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest expressed his hope that the graduates would take on key positions in both state and private organizations and enterprises. He also anticipated that they would become ambassadors, helping to spread USTH’s image to the community.
Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest expressed his deep appreciation to the lecturers and staff for their unwavering dedication and invaluable contributions in teaching, research, and support roles. Their efforts were crucial in enabling the graduates to achieve their significant milestone of receiving their diplomas today. He also extended his thanks to the parents for their trust in choosing USTH and for their ongoing collaboration with the university throughout this journey.
Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest stated that USTH was established under the Intergovernmental agreement between Vietnam and France. He thanked the French Embassy in Vietnam, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, and USTH Consortium for their unwavering support of USTH in management, training, and research.
In the next session, Assoc. Prof. Tran Dinh Phong – Vice Rector announced the Decision on accrediting and issuing Doctoral, Master, and Bachelor diplomas in 2023. This marked a significant milestone, symbolizing the growth and maturity of these graduates, who had diligently pursued their studies and research at USTH.
At the ceremony, USTH also honored the graduates who achieved excellent academic performance.
Representing the new graduates at the ceremony, Bui Le Thao Linh expressed joy and pride in becoming a graduate in Medical Science and Technology. Thao Linh emphasized that today’s achievement is not only a personal victory but also a result of the efforts of everyone who has supported and journeyed with them. On behalf of the graduates, Thảo Linh extended thanks to the USTH Rector Board, lecturers, and staff for not only equipping them with knowledge and skills but also inspiring them in learning and research. Thao Linh offered advice to the new graduates: “Success should not be measured solely by material achievements, the positions we hold, or the wealth we accumulate. It also lies in finding purpose and fulfillment in what you do. Pursue your passions and never forget what brings you joy.”
At the end of the ceremony, Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest, Prof. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Hai Dang, Assoc. Prof. Tran Dinh Phong awarded degrees to USTH’s new Doctoral, Master and Bachelor graduates.
