Department of Energy at University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) has officially been renamed as Department of Applied Engineering and Technology, effective from June 5, 2023.
Established in 2009, the Department of Energy has been dedicated to provide high-quality human resources in the field of Electric Power and Renewable Energy to satisfy the needs of the Vietnamese job market. Since 2020, the Department has expanded its training fields to include two new training programs in Mechatronics Engineering Technology, and Automotive Engineering.
The name change to Department of Applied Engineering and Technology aims to accentuate its training mission and research focus in the new context. Furthermore, it aims to enhance its visibility and appeal to students, parents, the job market, and potential partners.

The training programs of the Department of Applied Engineering and Technology offer a solid foundation of fundamental knowledge and specialized skills through a teaching approach that integrates theory and practical experience, as well as a strong focus on developing soft skills. Together with the training language in English, students are equipped with comprehensive skills and knowledge to confidently compete in the global job market amidst the strong impact of industrial revolution 4.0.
Department of Applied Engineering and Technology boasts an enthusiastic team of highly qualified scientists, with over 90% of them holding doctoral degrees and receiving training in esteemed international academic environments. Additionally, it is equipped with three state-of-the-art laboratories and an automotive engineering garage, which have been invested millions of dollars to facilitate teaching, practical training, and research activities.
