The French Embassy in Vietnam has officially begun accepting applications for the France Excellence scholarship program of the academic year 2019-2020 from Vietnamese students who wish to continue their studies at leading universities in France. The French Government’s Excellence Scholarship Program is an annual programme aiming to identify and support potential applicants who wish to pursue Master 2 and PhD degrees at reputed French universities. Along with the Eiffel Scholarship, the Excellence Scholarship is one of the most prestigious scholarships sponsored by the French Government for excellent candidates in Vietnam. The Scholarship is valid for 12 months for Masters 2 and 36 months for PhD. Vietnamese applicants from various disciplines are encouraged to apply, among them four priority areas of study are Science, Economics and Management, Engineering and Law.
Aside from receiving a monthly living allowance, applicants for the Excellence Scholarship also enjoy a variety of benefits, including direct social insurance, homestay assistance, visa grants, exempt registration fees as well as tuition fees when studying at French universities. In particular, PhD students will receive a round-trip international air ticket from the French Embassy.
Candidates are evaluated on the basis of their profile and then they will participate in an interview with the council. Other than their transcripts at university, potential applicants will be chosen based on their research plan, the coherence of the desired program with their personal and professional development, as well as the language skill of the candidate. In particular, research plans within the cooperation between France and Vietnam (between laboratories, universities, research institutes…), which is co-tutored by both parties will be given priority consideration.
Basic Science, one of the traning fields at USTH is one of the prioritised domain of the France Excellence scholarship. In addition, USTH students with solid knowledge, various practical experiences through foreign internships and great English skill would have tremendous advantages in applying for the scholarship. In 2017, among 11 PhD candidates who won the scholarship, there were 6 graduate masters in master students who graduated from USTH.
The deadline for submission is January 4, 2019, followed by an interview in March, 2019, and the final results will be announced mid April 2019. This is a great opportunity for students to discover France, as well as to enjoy one of the first-class education in Europe.
