From 2016, the USTH set up calls for institutional S&T projects of different sizes (e.g., “Target projects” for interdisciplinary topics, collaborations with external partners, “Type 1 projects” for experienced lecturers-researchers, “Type 2 projects” for young researchers, and “USTH-20” for innovative ideas and initiatives by students). Selected proposals undergo technical review by scientific councils comprising reputable researchers in the relevant fields. As a result, project leaders gain valuable experience and continuously improve in preparing proposals and securing funding for subsequent projects.
As shown by the graph below, USTH researchers were successful in obtaining projects from external funding sources such as Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED), Vingroup Innovation Foundation (VinIF)… and Foreign funding (the French Embassy in Vietnam, International Foundation for Science (IFS),…) with the budget increasing significantly since 2017.
