On September 28 2018, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) and 6 other institutes representing the Vietnamese Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) participated in the “2018 Exhibition of research results in Science and Technology in the Red River Delta” held at Vietnam Maritime University, organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and Hai Phong People’s Committee.
Attending the exhibition were Mr. Tran Van Tung – Deputy Minister of Science and Technology; Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh – Vice Director of Hai Phong People’s Committee; Mr. Tran Dac Hien – Director of National Agency for Science and Technology Information; Mr. Duong Ngoc Tuan – Director of Hai Phong Department of Science and Technology; and more than 150 research institutes, universities, organizations and individuals in the field of Science and Technology.
This was a large-scale multidisciplinary exhibition of the Red River Delta within the “Science and Technology Cooperation Program” between VAST and Hai Phong People’s Committee. With 115 exhibiting booths and more than 1000 products displayed, the event aimed to introduce outstanding scientific and technological research results of the attendants. Furthermore, this was also an opportunity for scientists, researchers, enterprises to exchange expertises, look for business partners, expand market, transfer technology for economic and social development of the region.
Giving the opening speech at the exhibition, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Van Tung affirmed: “The development and application of science and technology has been defined by the Government as the leading national policy. Scientific research results are the breakthrough solutions for rapid and sustainable development of the country. In today’ society, fostering applied research to quickly bring those research results to the production is an important strategy of the Government and the Ministry of Science and Technology.”
On behalf of VAST attending the exhibition, USTH brought technological products such as the NAO Robot, 3D Printer and Wacom Digital Panel. These products represented the application of modern technology to improve human life quality. Through this event, USTH in particular and VAST in general had the opportunity to update, share and learn experiences from prestigious units in the field of science and technology of Vietnam.
The 2018 Exhibition of research results in Science and Technology in the the Red River Delta encouraged and honored scientists and innovators as well as spread the spirit of innovation in the community. In addition to the exhibition, Techfest Hai Phong 2018 with the participation of more than 30 start-up businesses; with several workshops, contests of best startup projects were also taking place.
