A Memorandum of Understanding between University of Science and Technology of Hanoi – USTH (also called Vietnam France University) and Adisuptjipto College of Technology, Indonesia took place on February 28, 2018, establishing a cooperative partnership of the two university.
The event was attended on the Indonesian side by Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Ibnu Hadi, Dr. Ken Darmastono – Director of the Adisupjipto College of Technology and other delegates. On the USTH side were Prof. Patrick Boiron – Rector of USTH, Asso.Prof. Ngo Duc Thanh – Vice Rector of USTH, Co-Dean of Department of Space and Aeronautics, lecturers of the Department and other officials.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Ibnu Hadi – Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam said the signing ceremony is a new step in Vietnam-Indonesian partnership in the field of education, and expressed his honour to witness the event.
The MoU marks a cooperation in academic and research field between the two universities. Accordingly, the two sides will exchange lecturers and students; develop courses, co-organise international conferences and seek opportunities for funding for projects of mutual interest.
The two universities also seek collaboration in Aeronautical Engineering – the new major launched by USTH from the academic year 2018-2019. It is also a major programme of Adisujipto College of Technology.
Prof. Patrick Boiron – Rector of USTH – said airlines plays an importance role in the modern life of human beings, adding that However, the aviation transportation of Vietnam has met only 40% of the human resource demand.
In order to compensate the big deficiency and imperative demand for high-skilled staff of the aviation industry, University of Science and Technology of Hanoi – USTH (also called Vietnam-France University) is going to launch the Bachelor programme in Aeronautical Engineering and the Master programme in International Air Transport Operations Management from the academic year 2018-2019, he said.
Prof. Patrick Boiron added that USTH is proud to be one of first universities in Vietnam opening the Aeronatical Engineering programme. He also hoped the collaboration with Adisutjipto College of Technology will open up new opportunities for not only the new training programme but also the two universities and the two countries.
For his part, Dr. Ken Darmastono – Director of Adisutjipto College of Technology – expressed his gratitude to USTH for choosing his school as the partner.
He also hoped that the two sides will have stronger cooperation in the future, especially the development of lecturers through sending lecturers and students to USTH to study at Bachelor and Master levels.
The Bachelor programme in Aeronautical Engineering and the Master programme in International Air Transport Operations Management are designed with strong support of Airbus Corporation and a comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam Aviation Corporation or Vietnam Airlines, Vietnam Airlines Engineering Company (VAECO), , French Civil Aviation University or École nationale de l’aviation civile (ENAC) and Institut aéronautique et spatial (IAS).
Established in 2001 under Indonesian Air Force, Adisutjipto College of Technology offers six training programmes in science and technology with modern campus and facilities. It has been striving to broaden its network with universities and research institutes in Indonesia, in Asia and around the world. The university is located in the city of Yogyakarta, one of the biggest centre of culture and high education of Indonesia, famous for Borobudur Temple – one of the World Heritages of the country.
