Prof. Van Son Ho – Academic Coordinator of the cooperation programs under the agreement.

Representing USTH were Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Hai Dang – Vice Rector, Director of Department of Life Sciences; Prof. Patrice Estellé – Director of Department of Research, Innovation and International Affairs; Assoc. Bretagne INP is a prestigious French public engineering school network with recognized strengths in engineering, applied sciences, food technology, and innovation. Among its member institutions, ESIAB Bretagne INP — an engineering school affiliated with Bretagne INP and the University of Western Brittany (UBO) — specializes in education and research in food technology, microbiology, biotechnology, and food quality assurance. Established in 1991, ESIAB Bretagne INP is accredited by the French Engineering Degree Commission (Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur – CTI) for the quality of its engineering programs.

The newly signed agreement will provide a favorable framework for USTH and ESIAB Bretagne INP to implement a broad range of collaborative activities in education and research. In particular, the two institutions will focus on strengthening cooperation in the field of Food Science and Technology. The partnership is expected to be developed through the Erasmus+ KA171 program in order to promote the mobility of students, academic staff, and administrative personnel, while also supporting joint research projects, academic seminars, and scientific conferences related to food technology and food safety.
In addition, lecturers from ESIAB Bretagne INP will contribute to teaching, student supervision, and curriculum development for USTH’s Bachelor program in Food Science and Technology and Master program in Food Safety and Quality Assurance. USTH lecturers will also have opportunities to participate in academic exchange, training, and research activities in France, particularly in areas related to tropical food systems, fermentation technology, and food safety in the Southeast Asia.

The two institutions also aim to develop double-degree programs and implement doctoral training under the cotutelle model. Through this framework, doctoral candidates will have the opportunity to study and conduct research in an international academic environment under the joint supervision of lecturers from both USTH and Bretagne INP.
During the ceremony, representatives of both institutions expressed their enthusiasm for this new milestone in the partnership between USTH and Bretagne INP and voiced their confidence that the agreement will create favorable conditions for future collaboration in education, academic exchange, and scientific research.

The signing of this cooperation agreement with Bretagne INP further reaffirms USTH’s development orientation as a bridge for knowledge, science, and technology between Vietnam and France. Through expanding collaborative education and research programs with internationally recognized universities and research institutions, USTH continues to enhance the quality of high-level scientific and technological human resource training to meet Vietnam’s development needs in the new era.
