The Space & Applications (SA) department recruited its first students in 2012, and manages a Bachelor’s and a Master’s. Directed by Prof. G. Patanchon (U. Paris) and Assoc. Prof. Ngo Duc Thanh, the team has 04 permanent lecturers – researchers at USTH and 2 very active postdocs (USA and Japan).
The team motto: “It’s not the quantity that matters, but the passion that drives us!”, and despite its modest size, the team publishes intensely: 21 SCIE publications in 2020, and 19 in 2021.

- Climate change and Climate modelling (Assoc. Prof. Ngo Duc Thanh);
- Remote sensing (Dr. Tong Si Son, Dr. Pham Duc Binh);
- Satellite technologies (Dr. Phan Thanh Hien, Dr. Hoang Duc Thuong);
- Cosmology (Dr. Hoang Duc Thuong).
*with strong involvement in the LMI LOTUS of which Assoc. Prof. Ngo Duc Thanh is Co-Director;
*the REMOSAT team, centered on the USTH and yet much larger, and very international.
