On 22/8/2018, the Ceremony to award Medal of Honor to Prof. Patrick Boiron, Rector of USTH and Prof. Radjesvarane Alexandre, Director of Department of Research, Innovation and Technology Transfer (DRITT) and assign Assoc.Prof. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh as the interim Rector was held by the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST).
Attending the ceremony were Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh, President of VAST, the governing body of USTH, Mr. Olivier Sigaud, Deputy Ambassador of the French Embassy in Vietnam, Prof. Patrick Boiron, Rector of USTH, Assoc. Prof. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh; Assoc.Prof. Ngo Duc Thanh, Vice Rector and Prof. Radjesvarane Alexandre, Director of DRITT and all Directors, Co-Directors and Heads of Departments of the university.
The ceremony took place in a very special and meaningful occasion when the tenure of Prof. Patrick Boiron and Prof. Radjesvarane Alexandre at USTH is going to end in a few days.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Chau Van Minh expressed his deep gratitude to Prof. Patrick Boiron and Prof. Radjesvarane Alexandre. Prof and recognized their great contributions to the development of USTH in particular and VAST in general.
Prof. Chau Van Minh emphasized that during his tenure as Rector, Prof. Patrick Boiron has been constantly striving to build and develop USTH. The university has accomplished new milestones including the opening of 6 new training programs, many of which help to strengthen the university- industry collaboration. Especially, USTH’s undergraduate and graduate programs have been internationally accredited by the High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (HCERES) and by the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. Thanks to the international recognition of the academic quality, USTH students can access more higher training and career opportunities at international level.
Furthermore, Prof. Patrick Boiron has also made great strides in making USTH into a world-class research university through the establishment of international joint laboratories and international standard laboratories for training and research.
The President of VAST highly appreciated Prof. Radjesvarance Alexandre’s efforts in seeking financial resources and establishing network with the French Universities in USTH Consortium, supporting research projects for lecturers and students as well as promoting international publications at USTH.
In the thanking speech after receiving the medal, Prof. Patrick Boiron said that this is one of the most special days for him in Vietnam, the day he prepared to say goodbye to USTH – the last chapter of his research and teaching career. Prof. Patrick Boiron expressed his “peace of mind” when he saw a dynamic university that was transforming itself with new successes and hopes. He also addressed his gratitude to VAST, the French Embassy in Vietnam and especially the whole staff, lecturers for building up today’s success of USTH.
Also at this ceremony, President Chau Van Minh handed over the decision to assign Assoc.Prof Dinh Thi Mai Thanh as the Interim Rector since September 1st, 2018 to ensure the operation of the university’s activities. Despite the fact that this will be a difficult and challenging task, he expressed his strong confidence in Assoc. Prof. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh that with her experienced profile in management, she will complete her mission with the best outcomes and will continue to foster USTH sustainable development towards the goal of becoming a world-class research university.
Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh expressed her honor to be appointed as the Interim Rector and thanked the trust of VAST. Assoc. Prof Dinh Thi Mai Thanh also showed her determination to overcome all difficulties, together with the Rector Board and all staff contribute to the development of USTH.
