The “Water – Environment – Oceanography” (WEO) department was established in 2011 under a consortium between the Vietnamese government with French universities and research organizations.
The main goal of the program in the WEO department is to bring our students to an internationally recognized level in the field of Environmental Sciences. Since then, hundreds of both Vietnamese and foreign students have graduated from the Master program and Bachelor program of the department. Both programs follow the European standard system.
Students who were trained in the WEO program are expected to graduate with a strong scientific background associated with practical classes and applied techniques. They will have the opportunities to carry on their further studies in Vietnam or abroad; or to pursue their career in research institutes, public associations, non-governmental organizations, and private companies.
The WEO program, especially the Master program, attracts students (both Vietnamese and foreign) partly because the student profiles are recorded in the information system of the French institution, and they are recognized as full-time students of the French institution. Furthermore, specific agreements have been signed with the French partners to accommodate French students in academic exchange mobility by balancing as best as possible with Vietnamese master’s students. Approximately 30% of WEO master students are from foreign countries (most of them are French). Besides, it is noteworthy that about 80% of the internships are carried out in France.
