The Department of Technology and Engineering (DTE) (formed from the merger of the Department of Technology and Applied Engineering and the Department of Aeronautics) has the mission of training high-quality human resources for Vietnam in the fields of electrical engineering, mechatronics, automotive engineering, and aeronautics, while also promoting research and the application of science, technology, and engineering to support sustainable socio-economic development.

The training programs of DTE emphasize advanced and emerging engineering disciplines that meet the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and contribute to sustainable development. Students receive a strong foundation in theoretical knowledge, hands-on laboratory and project-based skills, and essential soft skills, enabling them to confidently enter the competitive job market or pursue higher academic levels.
DTE maintains close partnerships with universities, research institutes, and industry in Vietnam and France, providing students with diverse opportunities for internships, research, and employment. Research activities focus on renewable energy, energy efficiency, embedded systems, UAVs, electric and hybrid vehicles, and materials science—key areas contributing to USTH’s research strengths and long-term development strategy.
