Robust control theory and its applications
Real-world systems are more and more complex with the development of science and technology. This leads to a revolution in the control field. Robust control originates with the need to cope with systems with modeling uncertainty. In the formulation of any control problem there will be typical discrepancies between the actual plant and the mathematical model developed for the controller design. This mismatch uncertainty may be due to variation in system parameters, un-modelled dynamics or the approximation of complex plant behavior by a straightforward model. Since these uncertainties and/or disturbances can worsen the actual system performance or even cause system instability, their effects on the system dynamics should be taken into account in the controller design process.
Heat and Mass transfer enhancement in mechanical devices
Heat and Mass transfer is a basic science that deals with the rate of transfer of mass, momentum and thermal energy. It has a broad application area ranging from industrial processes and electronic devices, etc…Such industrial processes include shape optimization process and performance enhancement process in the Automobile field as well as the Aerodynamics field. And for electronic devices application, it may be mentioned as shape optimization process and performance enhancement process in heat exchangers (heat sink, immersion cooling systems). Nowadays, there are a lot of heat exchangers in the market. However, their heat transfer efficiency and performance are still limited. In fact, low efficiency can cause additional costs of electricity and fuel in particular as well as energy consumption in general. Therefore, enhancing their heat transfer efficiency and performance is a hot research trend until now.
