On December 12, 2024, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) organized a welcoming event for its new PhD students in the 2024-2027 cohort. The gathering held great significance in fostering connections and providing support for the new PhD students throughout their academic and research journey at USTH.
Attending the event were Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest, Principal Rector of USTH; Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Xuan Nhiem – Director of the Doctoral School; Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hien – Deputy Head of the Admission Department; and 21 new PhD students in the 2024-2027 cohort.
In his speech, Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest congratulated the new PhD students on their successful selection, officially becoming part of USTH’s academic community. He emphasized the critical role of high-quality human resources, especially those with doctoral-level education, in driving the progress of science and technology and contributing significantly to Vietnam’s robust development. He expressed his expectations for the new PhD students to strive for excellence and fully leverage their capabilities during their studies and research at USTH. He reassured the cohort that USTH would provide unwavering support and a conducive environment for their success.
During the event, the new PhD students were introduced to an overview of USTH, detailed study plans, and the rules and regulations related to the doctoral training programs. They were also briefed on the university’s scholarship policies and other opportunities available for doctoral students. During the session, they had the opportunity to voice their concerns and questions, which were addressed thoughtfully by representatives from the Doctoral School.
