On January 11, 2024, USTH formalized its partnership with the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) by signing a cooperation agreement. This significant step forward aims to enhance academic and scientific collaboration between the two institutions, opening doors to numerous opportunities in these fields.
At the ceremony, representing CEA were Ms. Maria Faury – Director of Infrastructures, Europe and International; Dr. Pascale Bayle-Guillemaud – Director of IRIG and Dr. Vincent Artero – Head of Department DIESE.
Representing USTH were Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest – Principal Rector; Assoc. Prof. Tran Dinh Phong – Vice-Rector and Mr. Luc Le Calvez, Director of Direction of Research, Innovation and Technology Transfer (DRITT).
After introducing and welcoming the delegates attending the ceremony, the representatives of USTH and CEA made remarks on the cooperation between the two parties.
Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest, speaking on behalf of USTH, expressed his enthusiasm about this new phase in the USTH-CEA partnership. He highlighted the pivotal roles played by Assoc. Prof. Tran Dinh Phong and Prof. Vincent Artero in fostering this collaboration. He expressed confidence that the agreement would greatly facilitate academic and scientific exchanges between the two institutions.
Key aspects of this agreement include the exchange of researchers and students to promote cultural and intellectual exchange, the joint organization of academic conferences and scientific seminars, and collaborative research publications contributing to the global scientific community. A standout feature of this partnership is the joint doctoral program, which has already achieved the milestone of awarding the first dual doctoral degree between Vietnam and France. This program offers students an exceptional opportunity to gain international experience and qualifications.
The partnership is strategically focused on tackling crucial issues in energy transition, digital technology advancement, and healthcare, areas of significant importance to both Vietnam and France.
The ceremony concluded with Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest and Ms. Maria Faury, representing their respective institutions, officially signing the cooperation agreement, thereby cementing the collaborative relationship between USTH and CEA.
