On the morning of September 24, 2025, the Rencontres du Vietnam Association and the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE), in collaboration with the University of Sciences and Technology of Hanoi (USTH), will organize “The Rencontres de Quy Nhon VIII: International Biology Conference 2025”. The opening ceremony will welcome nearly 160 participants, including professors, scientists, PhD candidates, and students from 11 countries and territories around the world.
Event details:
- Date: September 24–26, 2025
- Venue: ICISE, Quy Nhon, Vietnam
The conference will be honored by the attendance of Prof. Deng Wen Ling, Science and Technology Counselor, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam, and Prof. Dr. Tran Hong Thai, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
It will also feature many distinguished speakers, leading professors and scientists in life sciences, including: Prof. Guy Tran Van Nhieu (Paris-Saclay University, France); Prof. Hui-Min David Wang (Graduate Institute of Biomedical Engineering, National Chung Hsing University, Taiwan); Prof. Kang Lin Woo (President of the Industry–Academia Cooperation Foundation, Konkuk University, Korea); Prof. Karl Wah Keung TSIM (Director of the Center for Chinese Medicine Research and Development, Director of the Shenzhen Center for Chinese Medicine, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology – HKUST); Prof. Masaharu Motokawa (Kyoto University Museum, Kyoto University, Japan); Prof. Tsung-Hsun Hsieh (Chang Gung University, China); Prof. Taito Matsuda (Nara Institute of Science and Technology – NAIST, Japan); Prof. Yasumasa Bessho (Graduate School of Science and Technology, NAIST, Japan); Prof. Luesch Hendrik (University of Florida, USA); and many others.
Following the theme “From Connection to Collaboration,” the 2025 conference will include 14 plenary talks and more than 96 selected oral and poster presentations across four scientific subcommittees: Plant Biology, Microbiology, Human Biology, and Zoology. The presentations will range from fundamental research to application-oriented studies, covering diverse fields of life sciences.
Main topics will include:
- Fundamental and applied research in plant biotechnology;
- The role and diversity of microorganisms in addressing global challenges such as food security, sustainable development, and healthcare;
- Applications of OMICS, big data analytics, and artificial intelligence to improve human health, food safety, and the environment
The conference will also provide opportunities for young scientists to exchange experiences, discuss research challenges, and learn about national and international funding agencies through invited talks. Such opportunities for collaboration promise to support young scientists in their careers and contribute to the advancement of science in the future.
The Biology Conference series was initiated by Prof. Tran Thanh Van (President of Rencontres du Vietnam, Director of ICISE) and Prof. Patrick Boiron (Former Rector of USTH). They envisioned establishing a network of young Vietnamese biologists through meetings at ICISE.
Over the years, the “The Rencontres de Quy Nhon: International Biology Conference” has affirmed its status as a prestigious international scientific forum. The scientific exchanges here have been recognized as key elements for the success of researchers, from the early stages of their careers throughout their professional development.
In particular, thanks to this series, a strong biology community has been established in Vietnam, fostering connections and collaborations among domestic scientists while enhancing Vietnam’s position in life sciences in the region and worldwide.
