Energy and the environment are two of the most pressing issues facing society, requiring the attention and action of the entire community. Recognizing their importance, the Sustainable Energy and Environmental Development (SEED) potential research group was established at USTH in December 2022, with a research focus on sustainable energy and environmental solutions.

1. List of Members
The SEED Research Group consists of 9 members from various research fields, including 1 Group Leader and 5 key members.

2. Research Objectives
The SEED Research Group focuses on utilizing available biomass resources, including agricultural residues, municipal solid waste, and rural waste, for the following purposes:
- Research and production of clean energy through thermochemical conversion technologies.
- Research and synthesis of adsorbent materials, such as hydroxyapatite, biochar, activated carbon, and hybrid materials, for environmental remediation.
3. Experience and Achievements
In 2023, SEED members achieved several notable outcomes, including the publication of more than 20 research papers in reputable scientific journals.

In addition, SEED has implemented 06 research projects funded by the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, involving and supporting 06 undergraduate and postgraduate students in scientific research activities. SEED has also successfully organized 01 scientific workshop and 01 training workshop, contributing to the development of scientific writing skills and the sharing of research experience within the research community.

4. Collaboration
The SEED Research Group’s key research partners include Hanoi University of Mining and Geology, Institute for Tropical Technology (ITT), Military Technical Academy, Agricultural Research for Development (CIRAD), Kyushu Institute of Technology, ChemSIN, and TISTR.

5. Potential areas for Research Collaboration
- Material and energy sample analysis
- Collaborative projects on thermochemical conversion processes and material synthesis
- Organization of environmental workshops/conferences
