On March 10th, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) and École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Saint-Étienne officially signed a cooperation agreement, opening up many development opportunities in the field of science and technology between the two universities.
Attending the signing ceremony from USTH were Professor Jean-Marc Lavest, Principal Rector, along with two Officers of International Cooperation Department, Ms. Đinh Thi Huong Giang and Ms. Ngo Thu Trang. Representing École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Saint-Étienne were Professor Jacques Fayolle, the school’s Principal, and Ms. Florence Granger, Director of International Development.
Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Jean-Marc Lavest expressed his regret at was not being able to welcome the delegation in Vietnam, while also hoping for an opportunity to visit École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Saint-Étienne soon to further promote cooperation and discuss new agreements between the two universities. He also emphasized the achievements of USTH in recent times, particularly its rise to the Top 7 among the 250 best universities in Vietnam, marking an important milestone in its 15-year journey of development.
In addition, the professor mentioned important policies from the Vietnamese government aimed at boosting investment in key fields such as semiconductors, transportation, nuclear energy, and industry, creating many opportunities for collaboration in research and training high-quality human resources.
From the perspective of École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Saint-Étienne, the university representatives expressed great expectations for the Southeast Asian, especially Vietnam—where ideal conditions for developing education and research in science and technology converge. Moreover, it is also an ideal destination for international students, not only for the quality of education but also for the rich cultural experiences.
In the spirit of strong cooperation, Professor Jean-Marc Lavest and Professor Jacques Fayolle officially signed the agreement with important terms, including a student and faculty exchange program aimed at training high-quality human resources in the field of science and technology. This program is set to be implemented starting from the 2025-2026 academic year.
With a history spanning nearly 200 years, École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Saint-Étienne is one of the most prestigious engineering schools in France. The university places a strong emphasis on applied research in industry, training high-level engineers in both general and specialized fields.
The signing of the cooperation agreement with École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Saint-Étienne marks a new advancement for USTH in its strategy to expand its international cooperation network, contributing to the enhancement of the university’s training quality and scientific research.
