From USTH, the meeting was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh, Rector of USTH; Dr. Nguyen Hai Dang, Vice Rector; as well as more than 100 staff, lecturers, researchers of the University.
At the meeting, on behalf of USTH’s Rector Board, Dr. Nguyen Hai Dang highlighted the University’s achievements and outstanding events in 2019.
Specifically, regarding the activity of training, USTH has incessantly improved and developed the quality of training. In 2019, 60% of students took internships abroad. Many students achieved awards from national Olympics contests in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry; domestic and international reputable scholarships such as Excellence Scholarship by French Government, Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, and Scholarship from École Polytechnique, Paris-Sud University, and many other universities in France, USA, Japan, South Korea, etc. USTH awarded 122 scholarships with a total value of 3.505 billion dong for the students with excellent academic achievements. Besides, the University organized many extracurricular activities, workshops, seminars, contests to help students practise and improve their soft skills, for instance, Science – Technology Camp, ICT Information Day, Internship Day, USTH’s English and French Speaking Contest, etc.
In terms of research, USTH was in the Top 10 Vietnamese universities and research institutes leading in the quality of international research, evaluated by Nature Journals. The University had 55 publications in scientific journals in ISI, 36 publications in scientific journals in Vietnam and other countries. The average rate of international publications in scientific journals in ISI was 0.88 publication/ 1 lecturer/ 1 year.
As regards the international cooperation, USTH welcomed more than 149 foreign lecturers/ researchers to participate in the activities of training and research; signed 24 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and cooperative agreements, among them, there were 5 Erasmus+ exchange projects with the total value of 83.000 Euros.
Especially, on December 9, 2019, USTH successfully held its 10-year Anniversary with the attendance of the leaders from the Communist Party and Vietnamese Government, and almost 1.000 staff, lecturers, students and alumni. This is a meaningful event that marks the first 10-year journey of the University, opens a new phase – the stage of expanding and sustainable development.
At the end of the meeting, the Rector Board commended and awarded the certificates of merit to the teams and individuals that had excellent achievements in 2019, and launched the 2020 emulation movement.
