On January 6, 2024, University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) successfully organized the decoration ceremony honoring of the Third-Class Labor Order, awarding the Certificate of Commendation from the Hanoi Police Department, the announcement and the handover of decisions on the appointment of the associate professor in 2024.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest, Principal Rector of USTH, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the honorees: Prof. Nguyen Van Hung, former USTH Vice Rector (2010–2016); Prof. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh, USTH Rector; and the newly appointed Associate Professors. He emphasized that these achievements reflect not only the individuals’ dedication but also USTH’s strategic focus on nurturing talent, enhancing teaching and research quality, and contributing to national development.
Prof. Chu Hoang Ha, Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and Chairman of the USTH University Council, presented the Third-Class Labor Medal to Prof. Nguyen Van Hung on behalf of Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh, President of VAST. This prestigious honor recognizes Prof. Nguyen Van Hung’s pivotal role in USTH’s establishment and early development, laying a solid foundation for the university’s growth into a reputable institution in science and technology education both in Vietnam and internationally.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Nguyen Van Hung expressed deep gratitude to the Vietnamese and French governments, the French Embassy in Vietnam, VAST, the USTH Rector Board, and his colleagues and students at USTH for their unwavering support during his tenure. He expressed pride in the university’s remarkable progress, particularly the growing strength of its academic community.
The ceremony also honored Prof. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh, who received a Certificate of Commendation from the Hanoi City Police Department for her outstanding contributions to the “All-People Movement for National Security Protection.”
In a significant milestone, USTH announced the appointment of three distinguished lecturers as Associate Professors:
- Dr. To Thi Mai Huong: Deputy Head of the Research, Innovation, and Technology Transfer Department.
- Dr. Tran Giang Son: Co-Director of the Department of Information and Communication Technology.
- Dr. Nguyen Thi Van Anh: Lecturer in the Department of Life Sciences.
Speaking on behalf of the appointees, Assoc. Prof. To Thi Mai Huong expressed her gratitude and commitment: “This appointment is both a recognition of our efforts and a challenge to keep pushing forward. USTH has always been my second home, and I am committed to furthering its mission by inspiring students and contributing to its growth as a symbol of international quality and integration within Vietnam’s educational system.”
Prof. Chu Hoang Ha closed the ceremony by celebrating the achievements of all honorees, stating: “Today’s event is a testament to the incredible dedication of individuals who have shaped USTH into what it is today. Each of you plays a vital role in the university’s journey to excellence and its contribution to Vietnam’s education system.”
