On 13th May 2025, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) welcomed the Delegation of the Institute of Information and Communication Technology of Laos (IICT) for a visit and discussions on cooperation prospects in the field of Information Technology and Communications.
The Delegation of IICT was represented by Dr. Chaymaly Phakasoum – Deputy Director, and Ms. Kongmaly Phoxay – Head of the Information Technology and Communications Department.
Attending the signing ceremony from USTH were Prof. Dr. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh – Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Dinh Phong – Vice Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Giang Son – Head of the Information Technology and Communications Department, and Dr. Tran Hoang Tung – Deputy Head of the Information Technology and Communications Department.
In her welcoming speech, Prof. Dr. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh expressed her pleasure in hosting the IICT Delegation at USTH. She affirmed that the friendly and traditional cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Laos would serve as a solid foundation to promote and develop collaboration between IICT and USTH. She expressed confidence that, with goodwill, both sides would soon successfully implement the cooperation contents outlined, especially in training high-quality human resources for the Information and Communications Technology sector.
Representing IICT, Dr. Chaymaly Phakasoum emphasized the close-knit relationship between the two countries and expressed a desire to learn, share experiences, and promote training and research cooperation programs, as well as initiatives to attract high-quality human resources in the field of Information and Communications Technology.
As part of their working trips at the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, the Laos Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT) has visited and worked with USTH multiple times to discuss and sign cooperation agreements, focusing on supporting IICT in developing the Information Technology and Communications training program, as well as receiving and training outstanding staff and students from IICT at USTH.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged and discussed the Information and Communications Technology training program, which includes a 2-year study period in Laos and a 2-year study period in Vietnam, along with the implementation of accompanying support activities such as scholarships, ensuring facilities and accommodation for students.
The welcoming and working session concluded successfully, opening up prospects for cooperation between USTH and IICT in the near future, positively contributing to the friendly cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Laos.
