As part of activities to welcome new students before the new academic year, the Newbie Festival is organized annually by the Department of Student Affairs in collaboration with the Student Union of the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH).
Newbie 2021 is inspired by a natural phenomenon, Auroras which is a colorful light show in the sky caused by the Sun. Auroras happen when particles from the Sun interact with gases in our atmosphere, causing beautiful displays of light in the sky, especially at high latitudes near the North Pole or the South Pole. When charge carriers from outer space collide with molecules in the atmosphere, these molecules are excited to glow with different wavelengths and create bands of color.
Following Newbie 2020 with the theme of Hit the Limit – stepping out of your safety zone, challenging your limits, Newbie 2021 has the theme of Aurora Inner Light – the full shining beauty of young souls. Entering the new journey of life with many difficulties, sometimes stumbling, sometimes facing deadlocks. However, among those dark colors, you can always find passion, ambition, and enthusiasm to help you overcome all difficulties. Because when the sun disappears and the night falls, the aurora will appear, most beautiful and radiant. Aurora Inner Light was created with the desire to motivate Gen12 to have more motivation to find the brilliant aurora bands within themselves, continue to shine, and firmly walk on the challenging journey ahead…
1. Purpose of the program:
– Welcome new students (Gen12);
– Provide information related to student activities at USTH for new freshers (extra-curricular activities, clubs…);
– Introduction from USTH Student Associations and clubs and then they recruit new members to prepare for activities in the new academic year.
2. Time: from October 17 to October 23, 2021

– Recording the performance at the 8th-floor hall, A21 Building, USTH;
