On November 14, 2022, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) had a meeting with the representatives of the University Institute of Technology (IUT) of Vélizy on the future cooperation plan.
Participating in the meeting, on the side of USTH were Dr. Tran Giang Son – Co-Director of the Department of Information and Communication Technology, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Truong – Lecturer of the Department of Energy, Ms. Do Thi Thuy Trang – Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation; on the side of the IUT of Vélizy were Ms. Nelly Gauthier – Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, Mr. Willy Guillemin – Former Head of the Networks and Telecoms Department and currently representing this department for International Affairs, Ms. Jenny Fancett – International Relations Coordinator.
At the meeting, Ms. Do Thi Thuy Trang – Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation welcomed the delegation of the IUT of Vélizy to USTH and introduced briefly the unique features of training and research of USTH. The University was established within the framework of the Intergovernmental Agreement between Vietnam and France with the mission to train quality human resources in the field of science and technology. The European model of training is one of its charming aspects to attract domestic and international students to pursue their education at USTH. It also creates favorable conditions for the students to obtain exchange and internship opportunities in France and many other countries. USTH wants to collaborate with international partners to expand the cooperation network to promote student mobility.
On behalf of the delegation of the IUT of Vélizy, Ms. Jenny Fancett – International Relations Coordinator expressed their thanks for the warm welcome of the USTH team. She gave an overview presentation of the IUT of Vélizy and its training programs. It is a part of the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines and an associate member of the University of Paris Saclay – a member of the USTH Consortium. It offers specializations in many fields of technology such as Electronics and embedded systems, Robotics and industrial IT, Electricity and Energy Management; Cybersecurity… It has built an international cooperation network with many universities in Europe and Canada in training. Ms. Jenny Fancett hopes that after this kick-off meeting, the two universities can work closely for further collaboration in training, starting with the exchange or internship programs. She hopes that they can welcome USTH students to the IUT of Vélizy in the upcoming time.
With the similar European training model and training fields, the two sides also discussed the collaborative possibilities in the double degree bachelor programs of USTH. Currently, USTH has launched 3 double degree bachelor programs in Chemistry, Biology, and ICT in collaboration with the university members within the USTH Consortium. The University hopes to establish partnerships with more French universities to expand this model to all of the bachelor programs.
At the end of the meeting, the representatives both agreed with the initial cooperation proposals, look forward to further discussions, and expressed their desire to build a long-term partnership between USTH and the IUT of Vélizy.
