Master of Applied Environmental Sciences (AES) program, one of USTH’s first six training programs, has been launched in November 2009. Along with the sustainable science training, the Master’s program of AES will focus on researching advanced technologies in the field of water treatment and the natural water environment.

1. OVERVIEW
The Master’s program in Applied Environmental Sciences (AES) addresses the growing demand for qualified professionals in water treatment, hydrology, oceanography, and aquatic ecosystem management through two specialized tracks: Sustainable Water and Ecosystem Protection (SWEP) and Oceanography and Hydrology (OH).
The common core of both tracks provides a solid foundation in environmental sciences, combining theory and practice. Students develop skills in environmental data analysis, project management, and the use of tools such as remote sensing and geomatics, preparing them for careers in diverse sectors, including environmental impact assessment, water resource management, and research.
The SWEP track trains experts in water treatment, sustainable management of aquatic ecosystems, and biodiversity protection, with a focus on ecotoxicology, ecological engineering, and ecosystem restoration. Students learn to assess environmental impacts and develop conservation strategies.
The OH track focuses on hydrological and oceanic systems, with an integrated approach combining modeling, remote sensing, and advanced technologies to analyze river dynamics and oceanic phenomena. Students gain expertise in numerical modeling, data analysis, and programming while also exploring topics such as marine biogeochemistry and sedimentary processes.
