At the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH), the Double Degree program offers the opportunity to obtain a Bachelor’s degree from both Vietnam and France. To best prepare for the 3rd year (L3) in France, students participate in a specialized and well-structured French language training pathway.
1. Strategic Objectives
The program aims to help students achieve the DELF B2 level before departing for France. This is the mandatory language proficiency threshold required for students to comprehend specialized academic knowledge and fully integrate into the international academic environment.
2. Detailed Training Roadmap (640 Hours)
The curriculum consists of 5 modules (FRENCH DD), designed progressively according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR):
| Module | Duration | GPA Credits | Proficiency Goal |
| FRENCH DD1 | 120 hours | 8 credits | A1+ |
| FRENCH DD2 | 130 hours | – | A2 |
| FRENCH DD3 | 130 hours | – | B1 |
| FRENCH DD4 | 130 hours | 8 credits | B2 (Phrase 1) |
| FRENCH DD5 | 130 hours | – | B2 (Completion) |
Year 1: Building the Foundation
- FRENCH DD1 (120 hours – 8 GPA credits): Reach A1+ level. Helps students become familiar with the language and develop their first basic communication reflexes.
- FRENCH DD2 (130 hours): Reach A2 level. Consolidate grammar and communication in common daily situations.
- FRENCH DD3 (130 hours): Reach B1 level. Students begin to use the language independently and express personal opinions.
Year 2: Acceleration and Completion
- FRENCH DD4 (130 hours – 8 GPA credits): Conquer B2 (Phase 1). Focus on academic skills and argumentation.
- FRENCH DD5 (130 hours): Complete B2 level. Prepare for international certification exams and the study abroad journey.
3. Program Highlights
The French program at USTH is more than just a language course; it is a key investment with several advantages:
- High Intensity: With a total of 640 hours, students practice all four skills—Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing—continuously and equally.
- Elite Faculty: Taught by experienced lecturers using modern pedagogical methods. The personalized roadmap ensures that even students who are beginners or have “lost their roots” can keep up and progress rapidly.
- GPA Integration: Including DD1 and DD4 in the GPA calculation with a high weight (8 credits per module) affirms the core importance of foreign languages. This creates a strong motivation for students to invest seriously and boost their cumulative GPA right from the first year.
IMPORTANT NOTE
This intensive French training program is EXCLUSIVE and ONLY AVAILABLE to students enrolled in the Double Degree system at USTH.
