On December 19, 2024, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) proudly hosted its 2nd Graduation Ceremony of the year, celebrating the achievements of its newest cohort of master’s and bachelor’s degree graduates.
The event was honored by the presence of Prof. Chu Hoang Ha – Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and Chairman of the USTH University Council. Representing USTH were Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest – Principal Rector; Prof. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh – Rector; Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Hai Dang and Assoc. Prof. Tran Dinh Phong – Vice Rectors; along with directors of academic departments, lecturers, staff, students, their families, and friends.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Chu Hoang Ha emphasized that the Graduation Ceremony is a significant milestone and a profound symbol for every university. It is an occasion to reflect on the journey of learning, growth, and development of the new graduates, while also recognizing the unwavering efforts of the students as well as the dedication of the lecturers and staff. Prof. Chu Hoang Ha extended his heartfelt congratulations to the graduates and expressed his hopes that, regardless of their future roles—whether in research institutes, universities, or businesses—they will continue to embody a spirit of hard work, creativity, and excellence. He encouraged them to become outstanding contributors, bringing value to themselves, their families, the scientific community, and Vietnam.
Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest also congratulated the new graduates for completing their studies at USTH. He described the degrees awarded as a testament to the students’ perseverance and determination, particularly in overcoming challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic. Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest emphasized his confidence that the knowledge and skills acquired at USTH would empower graduates to unlock their full potential and make meaningful contributions to Vietnam’s development.
The ceremony also included the recognition of graduates with outstanding academic achievements, celebrating their hard work and exceptional dedication throughout their studies.
Nguyen Duc Hung, representing the graduates, shared his joy and pride in becoming a new graduate of the Mechatronics Engineering Technology program. He expressed deep gratitude to USTH, who not only imparted knowledge but also taught students how to grow, face challenges, and maintain an unyielding spirit. “The guidance of our teachers has helped us build resilience and professional ethics, preparing us to tackle greater challenges in life and in our future paths,” Duc Hung emphasized.
He also addressed his fellow graduates: “Today marks our graduation, but it is not the end—it is the beginning of a new chapter. This chapter may not be easy, but with the knowledge and experience gained at USTH, I believe we are all ready to face any challenges ahead. I hope we will continue to support one another, become good citizens, contribute to the growth of USTH, and together build a stronger and more prosperous Vietnam.”
As part of the ceremony, the graduates expressed their gratitude to their lecturers.
A highlight of the ceremony was the graduates’ heartfelt “bow of gratitude,” a symbolic gesture to thank their teachers, parents, and loved ones for their unwavering support, encouragement, and guidance throughout their journey—helping them overcome challenges and achieve the success they celebrate today.
The Graduation Ceremony concluded successfully, marking not only the growth and accomplishments of the new graduates but also reaffirming USTH’s role in training high-quality human resources to contribute to the development of Vietnam.
