In the joyful atmosphere of the first weeks of the new academic year, on October 24, 2024, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) organized a Financial Aid Award Ceremony for students facing difficult circumstances for the 2024–2025 academic year.
In the 2024–2025 academic year, to recognize efforts and encourage the spirit of learning among students, trainees, and doctoral candidates, USTH has allocated nearly VND 11 billion for academic encouragement scholarships and internship scholarships for individuals with outstanding academic achievements.
In addition, with the educational philosophy of “leaving no student behind,” and with the support of generous donors and compassionate partners, USTH provides hardship scholarships and financial aid to students in difficult circumstances. This support aims to reduce financial burdens and offer encouragement, helping students stay confident and continue striving for academic success.
At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh, President of the University, delivered a speech.
This year, the total funding allocated for hardship scholarships, tuition fee reductions, and financial aid for disadvantaged students reached nearly VND 1.2 billion. Of this amount, over VND 550 million came from tuition revenue, VND 250 million from the state budget for students eligible for tuition exemptions and reductions under government policies, and nearly VND 400 million from donors and partner organizations.
Attending the ceremony, representatives from Vietcombank included Mr. Tran Hai Dang, Deputy Director of Vietcombank Thang Long Branch, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Hoa, Head of Khuc Thua Du Transaction Office. Representing USTH were Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Nga, Head of the Student Affairs Office, along with students receiving financial support.
On behalf of the donors, Prof. Dr. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh presented financial aid to students.
In her speech, she expressed sincere gratitude to donors and partner organizations for their continuous support in promoting education and caring for students’ well-being. She also expressed hope that students would keep striving, achieving high academic results. This dedication would serve as a meaningful expression of gratitude to the silent supporters who have placed their trust in both the students and the University.

Also at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh presented financial aid packages worth a total of VND 320 million, including 11 scholarships covering 100% of tuition fees for the second semester of the 2024–2025 academic year, and two Dell Inspiron laptops valued at nearly VND 18 million each.
In addition, representing Vietcombank, Mr. Tran Hai Dang awarded 12 hardship scholarships worth a total of VND 40 million to students who are orphans or have disabilities.

Nguyen Truong Hai, a freshman majoring in Data Science, was born and raised in Quynh Luu, Nghe An. After losing his mother at a young age, Hai was raised with the love and care of his father and older brother. Passionate about technology and recognizing the strong future potential of Data Science, Hai aspired to pursue this field at university. During his research, he discovered USTH and was particularly impressed by its unique educational model combining Vietnamese and French cultures.

At the ceremony, Hai shared that he was deeply moved and grateful to receive full tuition support for the 2024–2025 academic year from the University and donors. This meaningful support not only eased his financial worries but also served as a strong source of motivation, allowing him to focus on his studies and continue striving forward.
USTH hopes that with scholarships and financial support from the University, partners, and benefactors, students will continue to make every effort to overcome challenges, pursue knowledge, and shine in the future.
