Research interests
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Huy is Deputy Director of the Department of Life Sciences at the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH), Vietnam. He has authored over 55 peer-reviewed publications and has extensive expertise in microbiology, with a particular focus on antimicrobial resistance.
- He leads the Multiomics in Microbiology for Health (MICH) research group at USTH and serves as Co-Director of the international joint laboratory LMI DRISA (Drug Resistance in South-East Asia), a collaborative initiative involving USTH, the Institut Pasteur of Cambodia, and the French Institute of Research for Development (IRD).
- Assoc. Prof. Huy’s research aims to elucidate the mechanisms and evolution of antimicrobial resistance and bacterial pathogenesis, as well as the role of the microbiome in health and disease, using advanced multiomics approaches. He currently leads several projects on the molecular characterization of multidrug-resistant “priority pathogens” identified by the WHO, and on the transmission dynamics of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and resistance genes across healthcare settings, aquaculture systems, and natural and urban environments, following a One Health framework.
- He maintains a strong international network spanning Vietnam, Southeast Asia, France, Japan, and the United States. This network brings together multidisciplinary expertise to address antimicrobial resistance and contributes to the development of national and regional initiatives aimed at informing guidelines and public health policies to better control this global health threat.
