On November 6, 2025, the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) had the honor of welcoming a delegation from the European Commission, representing the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP), along with enterprises and organizations from 11 European countries.
The visit took place within the framework of the EU–Vietnam Matchmaking Event 2025, held in Hanoi from November 4 to 6, 2025, organized by the European Commission in collaboration with the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (CCIFV).
The EU–Vietnam Matchmaking Event aims to strengthen collaboration between European clusters and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with their Vietnamese counterparts, particularly in sectors with high potential for growth and innovation — including areas aligned with USTH’s strengths such as Digital Industry, Robotics and Automation, Electronics and Semiconductor Technology, Clean Technology, and Renewable Energy.

The working session at USTH was held under the theme “Bridges of Innovation: USTH – CCIFV Collaboration Day, Turning Knowledge into Innovation and Market Value”, providing a platform for European enterprises to explore USTH’s academic programs and innovation ecosystem, identify potential areas for cooperation in research, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation, and exchange best practices in innovation, research, and university–industry collaboration.
During the session, Assoc. Prof. Tran Dinh Phong, Vice Rector of USTH, presented an overview of the strengths in education, research, and international collaboration. He emphasized that USTH was established under the Intergovernmental Agreement between Vietnam and France and is among the three exemplary universities identified by the Vietnamese Government to develop as research-oriented higher education institutions with a high level of internationalization, focusing on science, engineering, and technology fields with strong potential to contribute to socio-economic development.

Benefiting from its affiliation with the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and the strong support of the French Government, USTH has developed a robust international network with French and global partners, providing a solid foundation for delivering high-quality education and research programs.
“With the mission of training high-quality human resources in science and technology, USTH actively seeks and expands partnerships with both domestic and international enterprises to strengthen the connection between education and industry. This collaboration enables students to access practical training and internship opportunities, develop professional skills, and meet the demands of the labor market,” shared Assoc. Prof. Tran Dinh Phong.

During the meeting, representatives of European enterprises and organizations briefly introduced their areas of activity and expressed interest in establishing partnerships with USTH in mutually beneficial fields.
As part of the visit, the delegation also toured USTH’s facilities and state-of-the-art laboratories, gaining direct insights into the University’s learning, research, and application environment.
USTH’s selection as one of the destinations for the European delegation within the EU–Vietnam Matchmaking Event 2025 highlights the University’s growing role in the international higher education, science, and technology cooperation ecosystem between Vietnam, France, and Europe.

The meeting generated positive prospects for future collaboration between USTH and participating enterprises, particularly in fostering stronger linkages between education, research, and industrial practice in alignment with international standards, while promoting knowledge exchange in research, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation.
