On January 4, 2024, University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) solemnly held the ceremony for the announcement and the handover of the title of Professor and Associate Professor in 2023. Assoc. Prof. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh – Rector of USTH was appointed the Professor title. Dr. Mai Huong – Deputy Head of Department of Water – Environment – Oceanography and Dr. Nguyen Thi Kieu Oanh – Deputy Head of Department of Life Sciences were appointed the Associate Professor titles.
In the opening speech, Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest – Principal Rector of USTH extended heartfelt congratulations to the newly appointed Professors and Associate Professors. He acclaimed their dedication and consistent efforts in their academic careers and expressed pride in USTH’s first ceremony to grant the titles of Professor and Associate Professor to its lecturers – researchers, underscoring this as a testament to the university’s dynamic and effective policies.
Assoc. Prof. Duong Nghia Bang, Deputy Chief of Office of the State Council of Professorship announced the decisions on the recognition of the titles of the Professor or Associate Professor for the year 2023. According to this, Assoc. Prof. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh was recognized for meeting the standards for the title of Professor in the field of Chemistry. Dr. Mai Huong was recognized for meeting the standards for the title of Associate Professor in the field of Chemistry. Dr. Nguyen Thi Kieu Oanh was recognized for meeting the standards for the title of Associate Professor in the field of Pharmacy.
Following the announcement, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Hai Dang – Vice Rector of USTH declared the appointments of Assoc. Prof. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh as Professor in the Department of Fundamental and Applied Sciences; Dr. Mai Huong as Associate Professor in Department of Water – Environment – Oceanography; Dr. Nguyen Thi Kieu Oanh as Associate Professor in Department of Life Sciences.
After that, Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh – President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology presented the recognition certificates and Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest granted the appointment decisions to Assoc. Prof. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh; Dr. Mai Huong and Dr. Nguyen Thi Kieu Oanh.
In the congratulatory speech, Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh – President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology expressed his hope that the newly appointed Professor and Associate Professors would continue to leverage their capabilities and experiences, contributing to the teaching, research and management activities of USTH.
On behalf of the newly appointed Professor and Associate Professors, Prof. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh emphasized that it was such a great honor to be recognized as Professors and Associate Professors. It marked a significant milestone in their academic pursuit, serving as a great motivation for them to strive and contribute. She promised to keep working with Prof. Jean-Marc Lavest in leading USTH towards its strategic goals for 2022-2030, particularly focusing on building solid human resources for the university’s future development, aiming to increase the rate of Professors and Associate Professors at USTH to 20% by 2030.
