From November 27 to December 2, 2023, the 3rd International Vietnam Conference on Earth and Environmental Sciences (iVCEES) was successfully held at the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE), Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh, Vietnam.
The ICISE center, University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) and project 3SIP2C co-organized the 3rd International Vietnam Conference on Earth and Environmental Sciences. There are nearly 130 domestic and international scientists to attend this event.
Assoc. Prof. Ngo Duc Thanh – Co-Director of Department of Space and Applications (USTH), and Chairman of the iVCEES indicated that “The iVCEES shared the latest results and research trends in the fields of Earth and Environmental Sciences. The conference also aims to promote scientific advancements, knowledge exchange, and deeper international cooperation in this field.”
At the conference, the scientists presented the latest research results and scientific achievements on various hot topics such as climate change, the environment, the Mekong River water resource problem, the waste life cycle, the impact of plastic waste in the Gulf of Tonkin, and Vietnam’s Environment. In particular, satellite technology and earth modeling are considered effective tools for supporting process research.
At the same time, the iVCEES was also a great opportunity for the scientific community to share valuable experiences on trends and practical solutions in Earth and Environmental Sciences. The conference has created a premise to build and open up research directions and increase opportunities through interdisciplinary collaboration.
One of the highlights at the iVCEES was the active participation of young researchers from various universities (USTH, Fulbright University, Hoa Sen University, University of Sciences – Vietnam National University, Phenikaa University, Duy Tan University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Vietnamese-German University, Tan Trao University,…), research institutes from the Philippines, Germany, Thailand, Taiwan, UK,… The young scientists have demonstrated their creativity and professional capacity through the presentation of research results, orientation, and enthusiastic participation in discussion sessions with experienced scientists in the fields of Earth and Environmental sciences. The conference has been an incubation environment that provides development opportunities for young scientists.
According to Dr. Tran Thanh Son – Deputy Director of the ICISE Center, the 3rd International Vietnam Conference on Earth and Environmental Sciences has developed in both quantity and quality. It is proof that the Vietnamese organizing committee has affirmed its reputation in the academic community in Vietnam and internationally.
The iVCEES’s Organizing Committee also expressed the ambition to continue increasing the participation of international scientists, with additional in-depth topics on remote sensing and satellite technology, artificial intelligence applied to the Earth and Environmental Sciences in the 4th conference (2024), scheduled to be held from November 25 to 29, 2024.
