The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is the largest of the five Schools in Hong Kong. Since its inception, HKUST has consistently ranked as one of the best universities in the world, one of the top 10 universities in Asia, and one of the top universities in Hong Kong.
As a university devoted to nurturing researchers of high calibre, HKUST has comprehensive research facilities. The University has 9 Centralized Research Facilities and more than 10 School-centered research institutes. The research internship program provides opportunities for those students interested in gaining hands-on research experience. Students work directly with professors and learn firsthand the techniques, protocols, joys and frustrations of practical research.

Program: The Summer Research Program targets for outstanding end of year 3 undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing research postgraduate study in the School of Science at HKUST. The program allows participants to experience the research life and to work with faculty mentors in our School to carry out research project in an interactive environment.
Eligibility: Undergraduate students majoring in science and related programs, who have completed 3 years of studies (of a 4-year bachelor program) and have attained a GPA of 3.2 out of 4.0 (or 80%) or higher.
Housing and allowances: The Program will provide participants a stipend of around HK$10,000 to defray the local expenses, such as meals, on-campus student hostel (2-3 persons per room), insurance and 1-credit tuition fee. To enroll in this Summer Research Program, participants need to pay the summer internship application fee, insurance, visa fee and 1-credit tuition fee in advance (around HK$3,300 in total). Participants also need to apply for a visa (may take 10-12 weeks) and take care of their own transportation costs both to Hong Kong and back home.
