On December 23, 2023, Department of Student Affairs successfully organized the event Alumni Connect 2023 – A journey of connection for growth. The event has created opportunities to meet and share experiences among USTH alumni from different generations. Participating in the event was Prof. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh – Rector of USTH; Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Hai Dang – Vice Rector; representatives of specialized Departments; lecturers and more than 60 USTH alumni and students.
Opening the event, Prof. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh – Rector of USTH sent a warm welcome to USTH alumni. Professor hoped that generations of USTH alumni will contribute to building training programs and the overall development of the University. Professor also expressed her expectation that in the coming years, the number of alumni participating in Alumni Connect will be larger, contributing to making the USTH community stronger and more diverse.
Following the Rector’s speech was the reminiscence of memories of former students, former Master’s students (Gen 1 & 2) through a video created by Department of Student Affairs. The melodies in the song “Mong ước kỷ niệm xưa” along with the images of their studies, research and Graduation Ceremony created emotional moments for the entire auditorium.
Dr. Nguyen Quang Huy – Deputy Director of Department of Life Sciences, representing the group of former master’s students of Gen 1, could not hide his emotions when looking back at these images. Alumni sent his thanks to the University for giving students the opportunities to study, research and develop to have the success they have today.
Dr. Le Anh – representative of the Gen 2 of master’s alumni also expressed his thanks to the Rectorate for always caring and organizing meaningful events and helping alumni get closer together.
After the teachers’ sharing, there was a section of gratitude from the alumni community to the Rectorate.
Also within the framework of the event was an open discussion between alumni coordinated by Ms. Thanh Nga – Head of Department of Student Affairs. Ms. Nga expressed her hope that alumni can share, contribute and accompany the University to create a USTH community that continuously grows and supports each other in many fields. The University hopes that alumni will continue to inspire and support USTH students through workshops to share learning experiences, research, career guidance and skill development.
In addition, this year USTH has launched a job information website https://vieclam.usth.edu.vn/en. She hoped that alumni will share open job opportunities through this website to create opportunities for future students.
In the open discussion, some alumni shared their opinions. Nguyen Khanh Linh (former Gen 6 student majoring in Advanced Materials Science and Nanotechnology) shared that right after attending the interview at USTH, she decided to choose USTH as the starting point for her study and research journey. And now, she has seen that it was her best choice. Because not only being fully equipped with knowledge and skills by lecturers to be confident in the process of studying and researching in France, studying at USTH, students also found and built for themselves a research network to develop together in the future.
And there are many other shares from USTH alumni who wish the alumni community to grow more and more.
To realize that wish, the USTH Alumni Association Representative Board consisting of 17 members was introduced in the event.
The university hopes that the USTH Alumni Association Representative Board will create more opportunities for connection and sharing between alumni and the university, and between members of the USTH community. Because the journey of connection and development will continue to expand and develop thanks to the contributions and positive interactions from them. USTH expects excitement and active participation from both alumni and current students.
See you again in the next events on USTH’s development journey. Together, we will continue to build and strengthen our community network, bringing meaningful experiences to all members.
