In the first months of the year, the club carried out a number of notable activities and attracted significant attention from students across the university. UFC has successfully created a dynamic sporting environment and meaningful recreational moments, contributing to both the physical and mental well-being of students and staff at USTH. A highlight among these activities was the USTH Champion League – UCL 2023 football tournament.
1. Objectives
The primary goal of UCL is to continue the tradition of the university’s annual football tournament, promote physical fitness, strengthen solidarity, and foster interaction between students and faculty members. The tournament also aimed to celebrate the 92nd anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 – March 26, 2023).
2. Tournament Information
The tournament is typically held at the end of December or the beginning of February each year, bringing together some of the best football talents at USTH. The competitive spirit, determination to win, and strong team coordination among players deliver exciting matches and a wide range of emotions to the audience, culminating in moments of celebration on the field.
Alongside the university’s development, the scale of the tournament has continued to expand. With the participation of strong teams and talented new generations of players, UCL has consistently delivered high-quality, intense, and visually impressive matches for football enthusiasts.
3. Summary
The USTH Champion League – UCL 2023 concluded after nearly six weeks of competition, featuring 14 teams divided into four groups.
The championship title was claimed by GOLDEN BOYS, who secured a convincing 2–1 victory over USTH Staff in the final match. In the third-place match, STi et Amis triumphed over AE+ with a 5–4 win in a penalty shootout.
In addition, several individual awards were presented:
- The Top Scorer Award was awarded to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Duc Thanh
- The Best Goalkeeper Award went to Le Ngoc Long
- The Most Favorite Team Award was given to AE+
With a spirit of enthusiasm, sportsmanship, honesty, unity, and fair play, all teams delivered exciting matches featuring numerous spectacular goals from long shots, headers, set pieces, and well-coordinated team plays.
Despite weather conditions affecting match quality at times, the players still brought highly competitive and thrilling games to the audience, demonstrating a higher level of expertise compared to previous seasons.
