This guideline is applied for students of partner universities signed the MOU/ exchange agreements with USTH. The exchange allows students to study at USTH for one semester or one year without paying tuition fee to USTH but remaining their enrolment status at the home university. USTH accepts student exchange at Bachelor and Master levels.

Step 1: Exchange application
The student profiles must be sent to USTH International Cooperation Department (ICO) via ico@usth.edu.vn .
Subject: Exchange Semester Application_ [your name]
With following documents:
- Scan of passport information
- Incoming exchange application form (attached Here)
- Nomination letter
- Full certified transcripts of your academic achievements and results to date from home institution (French or English translation)
- Diplomas, international certificates proving English language ability (TOEFL, IELTS ...) or letter of confirm English proficiency from a partner school of B2 Level
- Learning agreement (attached Here)
Step 2: Approval decision by hosting department of USTH
- Student exchange application will be sent by ICO to USTH Hosting Department for approval or rejection (decision is noted on the student application form and signed by the Director/ Co-director of Dept. & approved by Rector board)
- If the exchange is approved, the hosting Department prepares the academic schedule
The 2 above mentioned documents approved by the Department will be sent to ICO.
ICO prepares acceptance letter for exchange/ internship students
Step 3. Visa and arrival information
ICO sends the signed acceptance letter to Home Institution and student and guideline for VISA (student prepares the visa application form) and accommodation.
ICO sends student profiles and related documents to Student Services Office for VISA preparation, accommodation register
Application deadlines:
- May 15th for the autumn semester and academic year.
- November 15th for the spring semester.

If you are looking for an exchange semester but your home institution has had partnership with us. Please contact us via ico@usth.edu.vn . Subject: Exchange application from non-partnership _ [your name]. You will need to provide:
- Scan of your passport information
- Student ID/Student Confirmation
- Nomination letter from home university (attached Here)
- Incoming exchange student application form (attached Here)
- Transcripts for undergraduate and/or master's degrees
- Diplomas, international certificates proving English language ability (TOEFL, IELTS ...) or letter of confirm English proficiency with B2 Level.
- Certificates of merit, certificates of merit, scholarships, other certificates
Step 1: Intern student submits their application to International Cooperation Department (ICO) following:
- Contact, discuss and get approval of prospective supervisors at home university and USTH on student’s internship plan. To find more about: Our programs and courses
- Complete internship application form, internship agreement and obtains all signatures of home supervisors and representatives prior to submitting the Internship Application package to ICO, USTH.
- Submit Intern Application Dossier (scanned copy) to ICO via email: ico@usth.edu.vn.
Subject: Internship Application_ [your name]. With following documents:
- Internship agreement (you can use your home university form or USTH template attached Here)
- Scan of passport
- Letter of recommendation (if any)
Step 2: ICO submits internship application dossier to Rector Board for approval of internship agreement and acceptance letter.
Step 3: ICO provides signed internship agreement and an acceptance letter to students.
Step 4: Visa application by ICO and support to find a dormitory place/guesthouse (if requested)
Step 5: Supervisors complete Internship Final Evaluation Form
(by template provided by home institution or USTH)
After the student registers to exchange with the Training Department, the student will send the required documents to the Student Affairs Department (passport, student card, English certificate, 01 3x4 photo, study results)
The International Relations Department will prepare visa applications for students.
5. Arrival Certificate
Once you arrive to Vietnam, on the first day at USTH, please come to ICO department to require for the arrival certificate. You can use your University form or our form (attached here). Remember to get the stamp when you complete your course at USTH.
6.Visa for incoming students
Entry Visa Procedures
For international students who have been enrolled at USTH to study, you are required to have Study visa sponsored by USTH, please submit these following documents to International Cooperation Department via our email: ico@usth.edu.vn :
- A scan of passport information
- Visa application form (attached Here)
- Applicants are required to pay the tuition fees for the forthcoming semester. A proof of payment is requested
- Other supported documents (arranged by USTH)
USTH will send you the scan of Visa approval letter from the Vietnamese Immigration Department. You will submit it together with your visa application form, original passport, and visa payment. You will then be required to collect your visa at the Vietnamese Embassy in your country you are staying.
In case there is no Vietnamese government office in your country, it’s important to inform us as soon as possible so we can organize for your pre-visa approval letter to indicate the location on arrival in Vietnam where you can collect and pay for your student visa.

USTH’s research activities focus on the development of Innovative Technologies and Systems : Information and Communication Technologies, Biotechnology and Nanotechnology and their applications in the fields of Space, Health, Energy Management and Environmental Protection.
To implement Research activities, and according to the 2009 Vietnam France intergovernmental agreement, USTH has the mission to set up Joint International Research Laboratories, with a focus on joint collaborations between USTH Vietnamese researchers and teams from Research and Training Institutions from French Consortium.
